Hi, I'm Joella

Joella Burr, owner of BookSmart Bookkeeping & Tax Services

I've called Northwest Arkansas home for the past six years, though my roots run deep in a small town in eastern Oklahoma. I travel between the two often — both places hold a special spot in my heart.

I earned my bachelor's degree in accounting and my MBA from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Recently, I acquired my enrolled agent license and am diligently working towards my CPA certification. Numbers are kind of my thing.

When I'm not crunching spreadsheets, I'm spending time with my husband and our five kids, ages 7 to 20. They fill my days with love, laughter, and the best kind of chaos. My happy place? A cozy fall afternoon at 65 degrees, the attic fan humming, and my loyal weenie dog curled up by my side.

I started BookSmart because I genuinely like learning how a business works — where the money comes from, where it goes, and what the owner is trying to build. Once I understand that, my job is to streamline it, organize it, and set things right. Your peace of mind is the point.

What I believe about this work

Clients aren't accounts.

I keep my client list small enough that you're a person to me, not a file number.

You should understand your own numbers.

If a report needs a translator, it isn't doing its job.

Communication beats perfection.

You'll hear from me regularly, and you'll never wonder where things stand.

How working together actually works

Everything runs remotely. We'll set up secure document sharing, agree on what I need from you and when, and I'll check in on a regular rhythm rather than disappearing until tax season. You can call, text, or email — I answer.

Let's get your numbers sorted out

The first conversation is free, and it's usually shorter than you'd think.
